Why?

In 1968, I was in college scared of losing my student deferment and being drafted.

In 1974, I came across an issue of "The Air Force Driver" magazine where on the last page, after the safety and "Backyard Mechanic" articles, was a list of American combat deaths compared with annual traffic deaths.

I was shocked when I saw our Vietnam War and annual traffic deaths were about the same, 50,000.

A Vietnam War on our nation’s highways every year!
